Decided to call this post 2010 since I have this whole year practically to catch up on. It's amazing how much busier you get as the kids get older. Both in school now. Y started preschool in January and I really didn't feel like I have had time to breath. Then the months just disappeared and before I knew it--it was summer! I was thinking to myself what a great time to get caught up on the blog. WRONG!! Our summer was the busiest one we have had so far. We have just loved being in this neighborhood. The boys have met new friends so we were constantly going all summer long. We drove out to CA and spent a little over two weeks there. When we got back it was "back to school" time. I finally feel like I can breath again and the past couple of weeks I have been able to start on my "summer to do list". Now I can cross out #3 which was to get the blog caught up. So lets start back with the highlights of last winter...

Gramps came out and took the boys skiing....

W turned, can't believe I'm saying it, SEVEN I barely remember him as a 6 year old. He is still very much into LEGOS. So we gave him the option of a party with his friends or a big lego set! Guess what he chose?? Anyways I told him I would bake him any cake he wanted. He said he wanted a candy cake that was 3 layers tall with a cupcake on top and then the #7. I did my best. It was so homemade looking but that didn't seem to matter to him. He was amazed to see my creation or mess of a cake. It brought me so much joy to see his reaction and hear him say "it's exactly what I wanted Mom!"....
Snow and more snow...At least Daddy has some great helpers!
At our park down the street there is a sunk in soccer field and the boys along with the neighborhood love to sled down it. They get going so fast they cruz across the whole field to the other side.....

Y started preschool in Jan....
W learned how to ride his bike without training wheels. Finally we got him on it. He was such a scooter boy. He picked it right up, is riding all over and has moved on to a bigger bike. He looks a little like a circus clown on this bike...
Easter--

My friend told me about these "bird nest" treats and I had to share them. I think they are so cute and they look so real to me. It is just the rice crispy treat recipe but instead of the crispy rice it's shredded wheat. You shape them into a muffin pan and then just add Whoppers "robin eggs" or the Cadbury eggs. I made them like 3 times because they were such a hit....

W in his school performance. He even had his own line. Parents had to make the costumes for their kids and I have to say he was the cutest lion...
Close to the end of school Daddy took the boys down to Durango to see Grandma and Grandaddy. Their cousins from Austin were there too. Grandma bought all 4 boys matching shirts and hats....

Grandaddy had bought a new fishing boat which made fishing a little more exciting..

Grandaddy also saddled up the horses. It was Y's first time to ride a horse on his own. He was so proud of himself....

Then on to Grammy and Gramps' house. We were so excited that Aunt KK came down with her girls to visit. As you can see only one of them was very cooperative to get pictures taken. Ohh how this morning was so frustrating at the time but now makes us laugh...
These two need no description. One was not having it. Y is sometimes known for being a ladies man...

Christmas came and went..

NICE!! I'm posting about Christmas two months later. This year we met daddy's family in Austin TX. The best part was meeting our new nephew. All the cousins had a blast together. There are 8 of them so total there where 15 of us in one house. Not a dull moment. Before we went we had to celebrate our first Christmas in our new house. I didn't do much decorating because we were going to be gone. It's slowly feeling like home as we make more memories here....

This just tickles me (maybe not at the time), but look closely and we had a little man who just couldn't resist. Almost every present had little rip marks. Gotta love a child's curiosity.

In Austin the kids got bb guns (except the younger ones). Even the girls did but their red ryder guns were pink. Here Grandaddy is teaching them hunter's safety. Which you need a lot of with 5 guns and 7 kids. My little nephew obviously just needed his thumbs and pointer fingers.

Down the street from where we were staying was a park with a giant sled. I'm assuming it was for family photos. The first picture makes me laugh. I guess daddy and I didn't fit in the sled. It's like the whole family and then us...(the sore thumbs)

Thanksgiving 09

This Thanksgiving we traveled back to CA. I went early to spend some time at home with my brother's family and parents. Then we all headed down to Santa Clarita to meet up with daddy and celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving dinner was quite unique. We were invited to our friend Cameron's BBQ restaurant. He runs the joint and wanted to cook us all dinner. So we joined him and his family and had the place to ourselves. All the kids had fun running around a giant empty restaurant. The food was amazing...he totally spoiled us. Daddy favorite food is BBQ so he was in should I say HOG heaven eating all you can eat ribs. I don't think he even touched the turkey or the sides. Grammy being grammy brought crafts for the kids and then gave them all Christmas jammies...

After dinner we headed to the coast for a couple of days. We celebrated an early Christmas together in the hotel and a Boschman Christmas isn't complete without some little program. So Grammy had the kids sing Christmas songs to a cd and then read them the Christmas story.

W & Y splashed in the cold Pacific water. The waves were hugh and magnificent. Our intentions were to stay dry but the boys couldn't resist and we did end up walking back to the hotel all soaked....

Grammy had made reservations for a train ride to a Christmas Tree Farm. It was so festive and the McClean family was able to join us. It was an old train and I think it's top speed was 2 mph (JOKING) so we were able to see all the scenary, and then of course Santa boarded the train to hand out candy canes. The boys are really forming tight bonds with their cousins and it was so fun to see them enjoy each other so much. What a way to end the wonderful trip and start the Christmas season.

Some Fall events 2009

Halloween=1 Jedi and 1 Dinosaur. Y had a blast trick or treating for the first time in our neighborhood. He just kept running from house to house without stopping. It's so funny when it clicks that you get free candy from your neighbors. The other kids could barely keep up--thank goodness there were no creepy houses around or he would have come to a screeching stop.

Had a major snow storm and I mean major. W had two snow days ...

W lost his first tooth and had his first school project...

Alpine slide once again..

W&Y both played soccer. I so wanted to get a picture of them in their soccer gear together but never did. Y had a ball, but I don't think starting any sport at 3 is a good idea. We basically paid $50 to watch 3 year olds have melt downs on the field(ours included). The coach did amazing with them considering at one point her son was crawling on the ground acting as if he was some sort of animal during the game. HILAROUS! (when it's not your kid) Still so cute to see them play.

Not sure if moving to a new home and a new school with in a few days was the best timing for W, but having Grammy and Gramps here for it all seemed to make it better. For me too being that it was an emotional and overwhelming day. I kept it together at first but it hit me when I saw him all lined up to go in. I had to take a picture of him putting a fake smile on for the camera in line. He looks just a tad bit miserable. Can't say my son was enthusiastic about the first day of school. I think what excited him most that day was the fact we all walked him to school. It has taken some adjustment especially to the long days but it's becoming easier and he seems to be doing great.

Our Move and New Home--

We moved the weekend before W started 1st grade. We are so glad that it's over and if it's God's plan we won't be moving again. Daddy and I are not fond of change. We were in the same house for almost 10 years and it was hard to leave but excited that Tim's sister is living there now. We had looked all last year for homes and did bid on a few but the door was always closed until we found this home. It's in a neighborhood I always wanted to be in, especially because of the school and how walkable it is. Y and I have even walked to target a couple of times. (not sure if this is a good thing) Our neighbors have been so friendly and welcoming. We even moved in just in time to get invited to the annual neighborhood picnic. The only thing we have replaced in the house so far is the flooring. Daddy laid new hardwood on the main floor and we replaced the carpet. The house actually doesn't need too much-- just some updating like new hardware, lighting and paint. We are so thankful and humbled by our new home and the space and excited to see how God is going to use it. Here are some photos of the move and the house.

Every year I DREAD taking the boys in to get pictures done. It's always such an ordeal. I had a friend who wanted the practice so she offered to take them this year. She did a fabulous job and becoming quite the photographer. It was such a layed back and dare I say "fun" time. She was just wonderful with them. Thanks SB!!

Wow-- summer has come and gone and it's been so long since I have posted anything. I felt a little down this summer because we didn't see much family and we decided to stay close to home in hopes of buying a new house. Well it happened we found a new home and moved in the last week of summer. Then W started a new school the weekend after moving so things got super busy and I super emotional about him starting 1st grade. It has settled down a bit around here so I've had some time to catch up the blog. Here are some summer highlights, and more is to come...

YY is now 3. We call him our wild man, he is such a go getter. It's so fun to see his personality blossom. I thank God for him everyday. His birth 3 years ago was the scariest day of our lives but what a blessing it turned out to be. God amazingly brought him to us after a very difficult, discouraging and scary pregnancy. He was 6 weeks early and had some major health issues. But you would never know it now. It was a time of spiritual growth for me and daddy, and we wouldn't have traded it for anything but it's definitely not something we want to experience again. He is truly a miracle for what he over came. This year I decided to have a "buggy" bday party for him. Sad some friends couldn't make it but it was still a lot of fun.

Summer Kickoff...

A couple of weeks ago we went camping with some friends. It was such a great time and what a fun way to kick off summer. We lucked out and found an amazing spot with an incredible view. The boys had all kinds of open space to run free. There were 5 boys total and they all got crazy dirty. It's taken some time but I'm really beginning to love camping, dirty boys and all....

W's Graduation!!

Can't say much or I may burst into tears, our sweet W graduated from kindergarten! Grammy flew out for the celebration. He even had his first speaking part during the ceremony. His graduation class was hugh--5 kids! He is leaving our church school and headed out to public school next year. I'm hyperventilating just thinking about it.

Our Family Beach Trip

A couple of weeks ago we took a family beach trip to the Alabama shore. There is an amazing coastline down there, and the water is so warm. It's our third trip there, and it gets better and better each time. It also a haul to get down there, but as the boys are getting older it's just getting easier. It was such a good time, and so relaxing. We really didn't do much outside of going to the beach. However, the boys did get to go crab hunting after dark one evening which was quite eventful. I think I got into it more than they did. I thought come on will we really see any crabs? I couldn't get over how many we saw and how much fun it was. So nice to just get away as a family and spend time together.

Funny title I know but I thought I would quickly post that Y is now wearing underwear during the day and staying dry! Yippie Skip!! Wow--he was a piece of cake to potty train compared to his older bro.

So on to the dog...W decided to instead write with chalk on the cement, it would be more fun to saw it, make chalk dust and rub it on Aspen. He was really freaked out to see her green, and quite concerned when he noticed he couldn't just rub it off her. All I heard from a screaming boy was "mommy come quick Aspen is green" Huh?? (hope the green comes through, it faded by the time I got around to take a pic)

Twin Fun!!

My friend Sara Beth has the cutest twin boys, and I watched them the other day. It was like having triplets because they are only a few weeks younger then Y. Thank goodness I had W here to help me keep an eye on them. They have red hair similar to W. As you can see W is fond of them. W and I also decided to start our garden that day. Time has gotten away from us and it's a little late to be starting it from seeds so we'll see what happens. To keep the 3 little ones busy I gave them the job to fill the containers with dirt. The twins thought it was more fun to fill them with rocks(which was great-less messy). W stayed focused and got all the seeds planted and watered. Garden updates to come...

Easter 09!!

We never spend Easter with family. So what a blessing to have family in town for Easter this year. Since everyone was out for my dad's 70th bday, we went to Loveland CO for Easter weekend and celebrated great gramps 90th bday. My mom's whole family joined us. So W&Y had tons of fun with their cousins and second cousins. On Easter morning grammy, being the grammy she is, with her sister made sure all the kids had Easter baskets waiting for them at their hotel doors. We all went to my grandparents church. It was a cold and dreary day, but still an Easter to remember.

My dad, brother and I got to spend some time skiing together. It was one of the things my dad wanted for his bday. What a great time. I had not been skiing for a few years, so I was a little anxious to get out there especially with them. So before I met up with them I went and rented a helmet. Don't laugh.....all the cool kids are doing it:) I look like a dork, but I felt secure especially when we ended on top of the mountain!!(then I looked down). As you can see, it was a perfect beautiful day and I even made it down alive.

Skiing with Family

My dad turned 70 this year, so we celebrated by meeting up with my family in Breckenridge CO, for a ski vacation. My dad loves to ski so seeing all his grandkids on skis put a twinkle in his eye. I wasn't planning on Y joining in at first but he wouldn't have it any other way. He just got so excited when we went to the rental shop to rent equipment. Of course he wanted his own stuff and kept saying "mom me ski too". So we couldn't resist. There was the perfect hill to teach them, with a moving carpet, that they just loved. The snow was perfect and so was the weather. Such a great time--the trip was perfect.

Well W is now 6!! Out sweet boy is growing in every way.

Six to me is such a milestone. He is officially on his way to 10!! This year we gave W the choice of a bday party with his friends, or put that money towards a bigger gift instead. He chose the bigger gift and of course it's was a Lego set he already had picked out. I kept asking if he was sure that's what he wanted, and he stuck to it. Turned out it was a hidden blessing because we all had the stomach flu on the weekend I would have planned his party. So we had a couple of little family parties with him before his bday. The morning of his real bday I performed a little song and dance for him and I noticed he was rolling his eyes with a little smirk on his face. It just made me laugh, because to me it was such a sign of the "mom I'm to cool for this" attitude. (but I know he still loved it). I've also noticed him

saying things like "dude" when talking to his friends. Ohhh.. that really cracks me up!! Lately, he seems to always be humming a tune. When he works, plays, or eats! If he is not humming he is in his own imaginary world. He has never been a child who has to be entertained (unlike his brother). Y seems so lost with out him when W is at school. They have such an endearing bond.

W loves to work with his hands. So of course he loves Legos or anything else he can build. He built the set in the picture himself. It took him a few days, but blew us away how focused he stayed until completion. So much like his mom..oh I mean daddy that way. He does good in school but can't say he is enthusiastic about it. He tells me all the time how board he is at school, but not because he is not challenged but because he has to actually sit and do work. He just loves his buddies at school and I'm already sad that he will be going to a new school next year. So I pray with him that he will meet good friends who loves Jesus.

We also have been teaching him about the fruits of the spirit. We looked them up together and he memorized them now we just encourage him to use them. On our way to school I remind him that he has the opportunity to show God's love to others through his actions or in his attitude. I try to point out to him when I catch him showing love to someone, or has peace when he is upset. But what has been amazing is when he recognizes it on his own. For example he has said to me "mommy I just showed patience to Y" (one that he tries to shows his brother a lot lately) Whatever it is, it's just so rewarding to see our kids bear "fruit" because as parents we seem to always be persevering to teach our kids Godly values. What a blessing.

We are always facing new challenges in parenting but we see God working in his life and we are so proud of him. Our prayer is he just keeps growing closer to our Savior!!

NO SNOW NEEDED!

A few times now I have looked out and there are W&Y sledding down our hill in the back. The funny thing is, we haven't had snow lately. They can really get moving on the grass. They have had a blast with this the past couple of weeks. It blows me away what these two come up with to occupy their time. But as you can see G-ma even came up with an even more exciting idea where all the cousins can go down at once. (and to think that pool was in the trash pile)

Valentines Day with Grammy

Grammy came out for a visit a couple of weeks ago. She just made her visit so special with the boys. She decorated valentines and baked cookies with them. She had them make one for each other and then everyone in the family. We had a fun celebration and then she babysat so Daddy and I could go out on the town. What a perfect gift for us. Before she left she also wanted to celebrate W's b-day early since she wouldn't be here on his b-day. W is SO into Lego's right now, he loves to work with them designing his own stuff. So Grammy had him build a little car, and then she surprised him and had a cake decorated around it. Such a fun idea. Thanks--Grammy

My Three Cowboys....

A couple of weeks ago we were able to go with some friends to the Western Stock Show. It was so fun to dress W&Y in their cowboy duds. They loved it! But the best was when Daddy came down in his cowboy duds too. They just came unglued. Daddy took W to his first rodeo. It was day full of Western Fun...

California Christmas!!

I just realized that I haven't posted anything about our holidays. We went to California to spend Christmas this year with my whole family. My mom really out did herself. Not only did she have a house full of guests she made it such a fun time for the grand kids. She planned so many great activities for them. Starting with our traditional Christmas program--so glad it's passed down now to the grand kids. First, Gramps read to them a Christmas story. Next, she had them dress up and sing--there were 3 shepards and 1 angel. Then, Christmas just isn't complete until you have a birthday cake and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. So she had them make birthday crowns and a cake to celebrate. They ate it up!!(literally:) They also had fun picking oranges and going to the zoo lights. The boys are really growing close to their cousins. My mom and I were also able to take the boys down to see our friend Kayce. She and her husband took her cousin's kids in and amazingly they are the same age as W&Y. It was fun to see them play together. Christmas through a child's eyes--nothing better!!

Thanksgiving 08!

We spent Thanksgiving with Tim's whole family at their friend's country home close to Loveland CO. They were so gracious to open their beautiful home to us and all the chaos that comes with 7 kids. The kids just had so much fun running around the property and playing games in the basement. I keep thinking what a great babysitter this house is. I never thought it would be a relaxing time-- but it was! Grandaddy deep fried the Turkey. It didn't look too appetizing at first as you can see but ohh once you took the black outer skin off, it was so juicy and flavorful. Grandma did a beautiful job decorating the table. (such an appropriate job for her) We just all pitched in were we could. What a wonderful gift from their friends the Ryans. It was truly a blessed time with family and friends.

One of those "humbling yet funny" moments--

So the other day, I took the boys to the mall to run around and get some energy out. It was a cold day and they were desperate (me too) to get outside of the house. So instead of putting Y in the stroller I decided, to let him walk too. It was nuts, they were all over the place. But I only had a few stores to run into, and knew exactly what I needed in each of them. One of the stores was "Things Remembered", you know the one with all the breakable stuff in it. So before going in, I gave W the lecture-- "Okay this store has a lot of glass, mommy knows exactly what I need so stay close, and please DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!! If you disobey and something gets broken I will have take money from your allowance to pay for it." Then I told Y not to touch anything but he of course is only two. It was so tempting for both of them but W obeyed. He"helped" me keep Y in line and his hands off all the stuff. I just got done paying, and as I'm leaving the store I turn around call Y to come, and as I turn back around my purse hits something!! And as it happening I think to myself-- come on that's not really going to fall off and break. Then I heard the shatter. Broken glass everywhere. I was so embarrassed and I could just see the awe in W's eyes. I knew he was in awe because I just did the one thing that I lectured him about and he was just waiting to see what would happen. So of course I apologize and offer to pay for it. The girl didn't let me, so I insisted again thinking "just let me because I have these eyes glued on me and he will not forget this." She still didn't let me but more than being a teaching moment for W it was humbling moment for me. So next time when I'm giving the "do not touch" lecture I need to remind myself to take my own advice and be more CAREFUL.

Gingerbread Houses!!

So this year I was in charge of providing a class craft for W's Christmas party at his class. I had another parent help me. The teacher really wanted us to make gingerbread houses that the kids could decorate with their parents. The store bought kits were so expensive we decided to put these houses together with graham crackers. The teacher gave us this recipe for the icing and her words were "this stuff is like crazy glue" So we figured great...we can do this. So we carefully crafted 16 houses together for the class party. They turned out great!! Well mine where a little messy but my friend's looked like Martha Stewart's. The kids in the class just loved decorating them. Let me tell you too--the icing was incredible after it dried. I actually tripped taking some of the houses to my car and they all fell out on the tile floor. I froze in that moment thinking what am I going to do?!! But when I picked up the box, to my amazement they were all still in perfect condition!! I just had to laughed at myself. So I wanted to share this recipe.

Royal Frosting

3 egg whites

1 pkg powder sugar (about a pound)

1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy and slowly add the sugar. You don't want the frosting too watery so if need keep adding more sugar until it is stiff enough to not drip off of a spoon. If too thick add water a drop at a time.

Like I said this stuff is amazing. (I thought I would use it the other day to glue some mouths shut....Just Kidding!!) It dries quick so just hold the graham crackers into place for a few seconds until it starts setting up.

Suggestions:

--Don't construct the roof until the base of the house is harden about 10 min.

--Pipe icing through plastic bag and then give the kids a little bag of icing to pipe there candy on. (You can use the store bought icing for the decorating. The candy will still stick.)

--Store left over icing in an airtight container--add drops of water if too thick

I had an extra house so I took one home for Y to decorate. He loved it as you can see he ate more candy then he put on the house.

Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments

A friend told me about this recipe where you mix cinnamon and applesauce together to make ornaments. The dough hardens and then you can paint them. I tried this with W and it was so fun and easy. I thought I would post the recipe if you wanted to try making them. (Hope it comes though) If not, I'm sure you can find a recipe online. Oh and a couple of tips.... make sure you don't forget to poke a hole through so you can string them. Also don't roll the dough out too thin or they will break when they get hard.

What are you thankful for?? Was curious, what the boys would say. So I grabbed the camera and asked. Y's answer surprised me who knows if he even understood the question. But it was one of those moments of did he just say what I think he said.

W woke up and saw the snow this morning and couldn't wait to get out. He tried hard to be patient because it did take us awhile to find all our snow gear.

Ugh--Halloween!

Halloween--can't say I'm a huge fan but this time of year can be fun for kids, without embracing the scariness of Halloween. We had a great time at home this last week, after being gone visiting family while Tim went on his annual hunting trip with his dad. We did some fun seasonal activities around the house. W wanted to do a craft--so as you can see we did attempt a "spooky spider"craft that is hanging from the dining lights. We played in the leaves out back and I even made a leaf maze this year. (which I used do as a kid) W & I chased each other through it until the wind picked up. It's amazing how those fun childhood feelings creep right up doing things you did as a kid with your child. W&Y painted pumpkins and then for Halloween they dressed up. My sweet Aunt made W his Indian costume, it even had hand sewn beads on it. Thanks Aunt Kak! I laughed at myself because as we were getting ready to leave on Halloween I was trying to stuff broccoli down their mouths as I just knew the candy they would be inhaling. Oh...the joys of putting kids down on a candy high. Glad it's over..

W&Y love to ride scooters. Yes even Y. I can't believe it, he's only two. I'm starting to get a real feel for what it's going to be like raising two boys. W has always been the careful one. I eased into it with him. Y is the opposite, he has no fear and is crazy. I really wasn't ready to let him try this, but being the second he wasn't going to have it any other way. So I got him a helmet and let him ride with W in our front yard. He did end up catching a corner, went over the handle bars and scraped his face all up. But of course, he was back on it after a couple of days. They both have become really good at riding scooters. W rides a two wheel scooter and I can't believe how he cuts corners. After watching him, I thought how hard can this be? So I tried it for about two seconds and landed on the cement. Won't be doing that again.

Fall is by far my favorite time of year here in Colorado. The colors are just gorgeous all over the city and mountains, especially when the aspens turn. Tim says it's like "liquid gold" running down the side of a mountain. We try to get up into the mountains every fall to see the changing colors. But this year, we have had company every weekend or Wes has had a soccer game so we weren't able to make it up in time. Instead we drove up north to this farm I have heard a lot about. Of course, the only weekend that we had open turned out to be the coldest day we have had so far. So I guess because of the cold, we ended up having the whole place to ourselves. We froze but had fun....

Yes, finally I started a blog. Like the title says it will be "simple" at least for now while I figure this all out. I thought I would start by sharing some pictures from the last few months. Some of them have captions, just run your mouse over the slide to see it.
